God Alone Has Immortality

Nahum 1:9 KJV

What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

The pain and suffering of this world will not be perpetuated through eternity in an eternally burning hellfire. Otherwise the words of John in Revelation would be meaningless.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:4 NKJV

There will be no eternally burning hellfire…
The fires of hell, once they have achieved their purpose, will cease to be.

What has happened in this world, its history, must never be allowed to happen again. “Affliction shall not rise up the second time.” And will never be forgotten.

In this website we have majored in the fact that man does not have an immortal soul. God only, has immortality.

……. He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power……
1 Timothy 6:15-16 NKJV

Notwithstanding this doctrine of the mortality of man there is something more. Let  us consider this. The fires of hell will be an ever present reality for God. We are treading on sacred ground when we say, God is omniscient and omnipresent.  That is, He is all powerful and all knowing. He is the great “I Am”. The God of eternity.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.   Isaiah 57:15 KJV

With us, as mortal beings, there is a past, a present,  and a future.  Whereas  God is eternal.  God is love and He will need the presence and comfort of His redeemed to alleviate the pain and distress that sin has caused. (Pause and quietly think of that) Only the redeemed of this earth will be able to do that. Only they, who were once sinners, will be able to identify with the pain that sin has caused. As did their precious Saviour. Every individual redeemed from this world will have their own unique testimony to God. And they will be of comfort to the Almighty.

This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.  Isaiah 43:21 NKJV

The Book of Revelation endorses this view. Unlike the other books of the Bible which are written by inspired men, and are mostly an historical narrative, Revelation is introduced as:   – The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants….. Revelation 1:1 NKJV.   This book reveals the very mind of God. After completing the great work of redemption and final judgement (chapter 20) this book seemingly reminds us once again of the fate of the wicked. (Rev. 14:10,11;  21:8; 22:15)
Could this be a reminder of the above stated truth that God will forever carry the scars of His work of substitutionary reconciliation.

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah His splendor covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. [4] His brightness was like the light; rays flashed from his hand; and there he veiled his power.  Habakkuk 3:3-4 ESV
