If communism is the beast power that ascends out of the bottomless pit then President Trump, in championing Russia and its cause has just formed an “image to the beast”. America is seen as the two horned beast of Rev. 13:11. It starts out as a lamb but eventually speaks as a dragon.
Revelation 13:11-12 KJV And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. [12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
In threatening to take over nations that are weaker than them they are behaving just like the beast power – the God of force.
Daniel 11:38 KJV But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
Seventh-day Adventists have always taught that this would happen in reference to Sunday laws coming from the Papacy and apostate Protestantism. That may have been relevant in the 19th century when God’s people seem not to have grasped the Sabbath rest of Hebrews 4. But now there are many Christians who know what is to lay all on the altar for God. And they know what it is to know God on a “daily” basis, not just the weekly.
This is what Jesus was referring to when he said to us…
Matthew 24:15 KJV When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand):
Jesus was referring us back to the book of Daniel.
Daniel 8:11 KJV Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
Daniel 9:27 KJV And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The Psalmist said:
Psalm 119:126 KJV It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.
The law referred to here is not the frightening letter which was given on Sinai but the real spiritual law planted deeply within our hearts.
Hebrews 12:18, 22 KJV For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest……..But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Galatians 3:24 KJV Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Jeremiah 31:31-34 KJV Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: [32] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: [33] But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. [34] And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
John 4:23-24 KJV But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. [24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
In this crazy world we can rejoice because, as Paul said to Timothy:
2 Timothy 2:19 KJV Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his………
And in the same verse he says:
2 Timothy 2:19 KJV ………. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Psalm 2:1-12 KJV Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. [4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. [5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. [6] Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. [7] I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. [8] Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. [10] Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. [11] Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Habakkuk 2:4-5 GNT And this is the message: 'Those who are evil will not survive, but those who are righteous will live because they are faithful to God.'" [5] Wealth is deceitful. Greedy people are proud and restless-like death itself they are never satisfied. That is why they conquer nation after nation for themselves.
The Power of Prayer
For an example of real, heart-felt prayer: The following is an extract from the book "praying HYDE" by Francis McGaw. "The eight hundred souls gathered in since last year's convention did not satisfy John Hyde. God was enlarging his heart with His love. Once again he laid hold on God with holy desperation. How many weeks it was I do not remember, but he went deeper still with Christ into the shadows of the Garden! Praying took the form now of confessing the sins of others and taking the place of those sinners, as so many of the prophets did in old time. He was bearing the sins of others alone with his Lord and Master. "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. " According to that law we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. This John Hyde was doing. What was that burden referred to in Galatians 6:2? The previous verse reveals it. It was bearing the sins of others ....."
Charles Spurgeon said in 1861 “The circumstance which attended Job’s restoration is that to which I invite your particular attention. “The Lord turned again the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends.” Intercessory prayer was the omen of his returning greatness. It was the bow in the cloud, the dove bearing the olive branch, the voice of the turtle announcing the coming summer. When his soul began to expand itself in holy and loving prayer for his erring brethren, then the heart of God showed itself to him by returning to him his prosperity without, and cheering his soul within. Brethren, it is not fetching a laborious compass, when from such a text as this I address you upon the subject of prayer for others. Let us learn today to imitate the example of Job, and pray for our friends, and peradventure if we have been in trouble, our captivity shall be turned.”
Oswald Chambers wrote on June 17th 1909 from Cincinnati : “I believe more and more that this is His way—intercessory prayer, this is the way He makes us broken bread and poured out wine for other people.”
How God Achieves This
Sirach 2:1-11 New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition 1 My child, when you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for testing.[a] 2 Set your heart right and be steadfast, and do not be impetuous in time of calamity. 3 Cling to him and do not depart, so that your last days may be prosperous. 4 Accept whatever befalls you, and in times of humiliation be patient. 5 For gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation.[b] 6 Trust in him, and he will help you; make your ways straight and hope in him. 7 You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; do not stray, or else you may fall. 8 You who fear the Lord, trust in him, and your reward will not be lost. 9 You who fear the Lord, hope for good things, for lasting joy and mercy.[c] 10 Consider the generations of old and see: Has anyone trusted in the Lord and been disappointed? Or has anyone persevered in the fear of the Lord[d] and been forsaken? Or has anyone called upon him and been neglected? 11 For the Lord is compassionate and merciful; he forgives sins and saves in time of distress.
"Suffering is sacred. Never squander as much as the smallest crumb of it!" Richard Wurmbrand
"And of all the blessings that heaven can bestow upon men, fellowship with Christ in his sufferings is the most weighty trust and the highest honour." Ellen G White D of A p.224
It is a part of God's plan to grant us, in answer to the PRAYER of faith, that which he would not bestow, did we not thus ask. E G White
Isaiah 61:11 The Living Bible The Lord will show the nations of the world his justice; all will praise him. His righteousness shall be like a budding tree, or like a garden in early spring, full of young plants springing up everywhere.
1 Samuel 14:6 KJV - it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.
A light between two oceans
That's what this website could be considered to be. A little flickering light between the vast oceans of Protestantism and Seventh-day Adventism . Trying to harmonize what is true and important in both. There is a lot of truth in the Seventh-day Adventist church: some error but a lot of truth. Psalm 43:3 KJV O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
