The Unfolding of the Plan of Salvation

Genesis 1:31 KJV
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

When this world was created in 6 days it was perfect in every sense. It is good to go back to the beginning of things to see the beauty and perfection of God. Man walked with God in the perfection of his new creation. We cannot comprehend the glory, love and beauty of that time.

Genesis 3:2-4 KJV
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Herein is revealed  the first temptation and the first lie. The first request of God was something simple, not hard. God had given Adam and Eve everything they needed. But Satan misconstrued the simple request of God, with a lie. God had said if they were to eat of the forbidden fruit they would die. And contrary to what was said by the serpent they did spiritually die. From that moment they had lost the very presence of God.

Genesis 3:7 KJV
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

When man ate of the forbidden fruit everything changed. But even right back then God was prepared.

Genesis 3:15 KJV
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

This is the first intimation that God had a plan in place. It was to be not without pain and effort. God’s word to Satan is that he would be ultimately destroyed. A head wound is fatal. But Satan’s enmity towards the church would be painful but not fatal. “thou shalt bruise his heel”. We know that this plan was in place through the words of John in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 13:7-8 KJV
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. [8] And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

God’s plan began to be implemented with the calling of Abraham.

Genesis 15:1-6 NKJV
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” [2] But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” [3] Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” [4] And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” [5] Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” [6] And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

The plan of God as mentioned in these verses tells us how righteousness is obtained. By simply believing the word of God, Abraham was declared righteous. “And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”  This plan of God always infuriates the enemy. And it wasn’t long before this became evident.

Genesis 15:12 NKJV
Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him.

We shouldn’t be suprised  if when we take a stand for God things get really hard. In fact, realizing the reality of evil, we would be very surprised if things didn’t get hard.

Revelation 22:17 TLB
The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ Let each one who hears them say the same, ‘Come.’ Let the thirsty one come-anyone who wants to; let him come and drink the Water of Life without charge.

The first and the last chapters of the Bible depict God’s perfect world before and after the entry of sin. Adam was in a position to look back to the perfect world that once was. He had experienced it and he remembered it. We don’t have that privilege – only in as much as what we read in Genesis 1. But we do read about the perfect world that once was and we read about the perfect recreated world that will be and we rejoice in this blessed hope.

2 Peter 3:13 KJV
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
